Privacy policy
This page explains what data nomi collects, why, and how we use it. We try to keep this short and honest. If anything is unclear, write to us.
Who we are
nomi is a meal planning app that helps households decide what to eat, builds a shopping list, and walks the cook through the recipe. nomi is built in Stockholm.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We use these to identify your account and personalise the app. We do not receive your Google password.
Household and preferences
You tell nomi about your household and how you like to eat during onboarding and from the profile screen. This includes:
- Number of adults and children, and rough age groups for the children.
- Dietary restrictions, allergies, and dislikes.
- Cooking time preference and how often you cook.
- Free-text notes you choose to share.
Activity inside the app
To make suggestions useful, we keep:
- The meals you plan, cook, favourite, or reject.
- Ratings and comments you leave on cooked meals.
- Items added to your shopping list.
Technical data
Our servers log standard request information such as the request path, response time, and IP address. These logs are used to operate and debug the service.
What we do with your data
- Generate meal suggestions, recipes, and shopping lists tailored to your household.
- Power conversations with the in-app assistant.
- Improve the experience over time, for example by remembering meals you have already cooked.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
Third parties we share data with
nomi relies on a small number of vendors to operate. When we share data with them, we share only what is needed.
- Google for sign-in. We receive name and email from Google when you sign in.
- OpenAI for generating recipes and other AI features. The relevant context (your household preferences, the recipe you are cooking, the message you wrote) is sent to OpenAI to produce a response. OpenAI does not use this content to train their models on our behalf.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our database and servers.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union.
How long we keep it
- Account information is kept while your account is active.
- If you delete your account, we delete your account record, household data, plans, ratings, and shopping list. Server logs may persist for up to 30 days.
Your rights
You can:
- View and edit your profile and household preferences from inside the app.
- Delete your account from the profile screen, which removes your personal data from our database.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to the contact address below.
Children
nomi is intended for adults who plan meals for their household. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Information about children in your household, such as their age group, is provided by you to help us tailor suggestions.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update this page and adjust the last-updated date below. Continued use of nomi after a change means you accept the updated policy.
